The first competitions in Whistler, since the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver, were held on March, 31st in the context of the Canadian championships. The Canadian Ski Federation invited also athletes from other countries to participate at the nationals, but those who came, couldn't stop Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, who won at the normal as well as on the big hill, and Taylor Henrich to capture all victories.
This weekend Anssi Koivuranta became Finnish champion both in the small hill in Rovaniemi and the big hill in Kuusamo. For Matti Hautamäki these were the last competitions of his long career.
National championships took place also in Russia during the last days. The winners in the new hills of Chaikovsky in the Perm area were Dimitry Vassiliev, Irina Taktaeva as well as Ivan for juniors.
Also in Norway was the season's final held at this weekend with the national championships on the normal hill in Voss. Especially Anders Jacobsen, who won gold in yesterday's individual competition and showed the best performance in the team competition today, could convince. In the ladies' class celebrated Anette Sagen the clear victory.
And also in France was it show time: In Courchevel were the national championchips held this weekend. The two winners of the individual races were Coline Mattel and Vincent Descombes Sevoie - and with that two usual suspects. The team title was won by Sevoie 1.
Kamil Stoch celebrated two victories at the national championships at this weekend. Both in the team competition with his team AZS Zakopane and in the individual secured he the gold medal on the big hill.
The Estonians were opening this power-weekend, which was marked by several national championships in, f.e. Norway, Poland, France and Russia, with a team competition on Saturday. The club Elva Suusaklubi (Karl Mustjõgi, Kristjan Ilves and Illimar Pärn) won the title on the K 40 hill with a total of 750.5 points.
Yesterday and today took the national Junior Championships place in Oslo/NOR. The titles on the normal hill were secured by Mats S. Berggaard and Jenny Synnøve Hagemoen on yesterday's evening, while the team Akershus 1 (Hans Petter Bergquist, Klaus Ovlien Engen, Simen Key Grimsrud) won today's team competition.
The young Austrian ski jumpers were competing twice on the Toni-Seelos-Olympic-hill in Seefeld at this weekend. The competitions were the final of the Austria Cup and the national championships for the youth and junior-classes.
Yesterday and today took the final competitions of the Norges Cup in this winter season place. The location was the Skarbakken (HS100) in Molde and the winner of the elite classes were Fredrik Bjerkeengen and Espen Enger Halvorsen in the men's class and Karoline Andrea Røstad in the ladies' class.
Young German ski jumpers were competing this weekend in Westphalian Winterberg in connection with the German Junior Championships in special ski jumping and Nordic Combined. The titles went to Sebastian Bradatsch and Johannes Löhmann. The Thuringian Ski Association took team gold.
At the Norges Cup was Raufoss the next station at this weekend, since the already rescheduled races in Rena could not be held once again. During fair conditions and nice weather secured Mats S. Berggaard and Kenneth Gangnes the victories in the men's elite class, in the women's class won Maren Lundby and Silje Karlengen.
